The winner of the New Home Construction Award went to the Holland residence for their home at 105 New Castle Street built by Echelon Custom Homes. The home was designed by Tim Tice with interior and exterior selections made by Matty Adler. This upscale beach cottage complements the surrounding homes, while providing the homeowner with unique living spaces. The whimsical landscaping and flower boxes enhance the home’s distinctive charm.  According to the award from Rehoboth Beach Main Street, “A number of factors went into this award, not the least of which was respect for the site and preservation of its trees, including the magnificent pine at its front entrance. Elsewhere, the large volume of the home is hidden in a series of connecting cubes which disguise the size of the place including a set of bedrooms hiding under its roof.”

The 2nd Annual Walt Wagamon Golf Classic to benefit The Wellness Community – Delaware will be held on Monday, May 24, 2010 at the exclusive Rehoboth Beach Country Club. Golfers will enjoy a challenging course, a wonderful cocktail celebration and have the opportunity to bid on fabulous prizes. Golfers may register to play for $125.00 per person ($135.00 after May 6), including green’s fees and cart. Registration will begin at noon, with a shot gun start at 1 PM. There will be guaranteed prizes awarded for the longest drive, closest to pin and low score. Tournament closes with first 120 paid registrants.

Walt, a true Sussex Countian, grew up on the shores of Wagamon’s Pond in Milton He enjoyed 30 years in the real estate business in Rehoboth Beach and he achieved many acknowledgments for his outstanding performance in the profession. Well known in Sussex County, he was involved in numerous professional, community and civic associations. Walt lost his valiant battle with cancer in June, 2007. Although Walt was devoted to serving his community, many would say that Walt’s passion for life was complete with his family, friends and a good round of golf!

This downstate golf tournament will honor a wonderful citizen and it will also help to raise public awareness about cancer. The event will offer various sponsorship opportunities to help provide the monetary support needed to enable The Wellness Community- Delaware in Sussex County to offer emotional support and educational programs free of charge to people affected by cancer and their loved ones. The Wellness Community-Delaware, an affiliate of the Cancer Support Community, is the only organization in Delaware dedicated exclusively to helping people cope with the emotional aspect of cancer. It is part of a national nonprofit organization that provides support, education and hope to people with cancer and their loved ones. Through participation in professionally led support groups, educational workshops and mind/body classes, people affected by cancer learn vital skills that enable them to regain control, reduce isolation and restore hope regardless of the stage of disease. I was asked to come in and help launch the event by giving participants the information they needed to train correctly to give them a better chance of success. Employees responded with several questions while looking for an edge to help them win the contest.

Shortly after my speech, I was approached by Jeff Anemone, who works for Chris Schell at Echelon Custom Homes. He asked me if I would help him win the contest by enrolling him in my 12-week Body Transformation Program. I told him I’d be glad to help and made an appointment to meet him at Gold’s Gym. The next day, Jeff and I got started. I set up his program and off he went. For the next 10 weeks, Jeff received a crash course on how to live a healthy lifestyle.

To his credit, he attacked his training like a schoolboy fighting for a starting position on the varsity football team. During this time, a funny thing happened: Jeff’s cholesterol levels returned to normal, and he was able to stop taking his medication. His doctor was baffled, but she told him to keep up whatever he was doing. Jeff had entered the contest two weeks late, but his results were well ahead of schedule.

In the early morning hours of Sunday, April 12, contestants from the Schell Brothers Companies staggered in to register their final weights. There were many impressive transformations, since a lot of employees took the contest very seriously. By the end of the day, it became clear Jeff Anemone had stolen the show. He had lost a total of 38 pounds and 19.66 percent of his body weight. He had dropped from 193 pounds to 155 pounds in just 10 weeks.

When asked about winning the Schell Brothers Biggest Loser Contest, Jeff responded by telling me he hasn’t been in this good shape for 20 years. He also said he’s far from finished. After a day or two of rest, he and I will resume his training. Stay posted for further results.
