Lance and I took our daughters (Morgan, Lily and Shelby) camping in the Cape Henlopen State Park last weekend. I must say that it could have been one of the most memorable experiences I’ve had with my Daughter, Morgan. The weather was perfect, chef Lance made an amazing dinner, and the girls weren’t “scared”…success on all fronts! Check out some of our photos.

My wife and I (also our new baby girl) just moved into a new place a couple of weeks ago. I had forgotten how big of a job moving really was. When we turn the keys over to a new client I often forget how difficult it is to get all of our accumulated stuff into that brand new home. Moving furniture, hanging pictures, shifting billing addresses, appointments with cable companies, all of that stuff adds up. We are just about finished with all of that. My wife and I are still relatively young and this is our first place where we are getting to have “real” furniture. We had a hodgepodge of things from our old house that was just things we had collected over the years. We purchased some new things through Echelon Interiors (of course) and I have to say that it is so nice to come home to a place that feels like a home. Now I understand that it is just “stuff” but I am grateful for it. Thanks to Joni and Renee for your help with it!
Wow, what a long and exhausting weekend up in Philadelphia, but well worth it!! I am officially a Personal Trainer through AFAA, whoohoooo! This has always been a passion of mine working with individuals through Exercise Science, and finally- I’m making it a reality! Wish me luck
What’s all the talk about foam insulation? Does it work and what types are there?
Yes, foam is good for residential and commercial construction practices. The two main types of spray foam are closed cell and open cell foam. The closed cell foam is a vapor barrier whereas the open cell foam will allow air to pass through. Closed cell has a better R-Value per inch of application but is more expensive to install. So where is the common ground? We have found that a hybrid approach works best for us and keeps the costs down. In the 2×6 cavity, we spray a 1/2″ of closed cell foam on the back side of the sheathing and then blow in fiberglass batt insulation for the rest of the 5″. The spray foam creates a great seal to repel any air infiltration and the blown in batts fills the gaps and delivers a great composite R-Value for a 2×6 stick framed wall. It’s a great idea to also spray foam your band board in a crawl or basement. The investment will pay dividends year after year and is well worth it.
